Itinerary

  1. 1
    Homomonument

In about one hour, we cruise through the unique Unesco Heritage listed Golden Age canals of Amsterdam. We cruise into the Jordaan, a neighbourhood known for its famous Prinsengracht towards the most romantic Magere Brug (English: Skinny Bridge – we will work on your Dutch pronunciation later), the Amstel river, the 7 bridges, the impressive Golden Bend, and then past the nine streets back to the Anne Frank House.

  2. 2
    Anne Frank House

Annelies Marie Frank was a Jewish girl from Germany who became known for the diary she wrote during the Second World War when she was in hiding in Amsterdam. She died of exhaustion and / or typhus fever in the Bergen-Belsen concentration camp

  3. 3
    The Jordaan

The most common theory on the origin of the name is as a derivation of the French word Jardin, meaning garden: most streets and canals in the Jordaan are named after trees and flowers. Another theory is that the Prinsengracht canal was once nicknamed Jordaan (the Dutch name for the river Jordan) and that the neighborhood beyond the canal came to be called this as well. Our Flagship canal tour will start and end here in the Jordaan.

  4. 4
    Prinsengracht

Our boats will cruise the Prinsengracht.

  5. 5
    Amsterdam Cheese Museum

Get ready for the #1 Cheese Experience in Amsterdam: the Amsterdam Cheese Museum. The Amsterdam Cheese Museum is not just offering another free cheese tasting. You can also relive the history of cheese making and experience the unique flavor of the best cheese of Holland. Learn more about Dutch cheese, see the most expensive cheese slicer of the world and have fun dressing up like a traditional Dutch cheese farmer.

  6. 6
    Amsterdam Tulip Museum

The Amsterdam Tulip Museum, also known as the Tulip Museum, is located at Prinsengracht 116, opposite the Anne Frank House. The museum shows the history of the tulip below, from its discovery in Central Asia to the present time.

  7. 7
    Bloemgracht

The canal, as part of the Jordaan, was constructed in the first half of the 17th century during one of Amsterdam's major urban expansions; the so-called Third Explanation. Initially, dyers were located on and near the Bloemgracht.

  8. 8
    De 9 Straatjes

Our boats will cruise along the negen straatjes.

  9. 9
    Westerkerk

The Westerkerk (English: Western Church) is a Reformed church within the Dutch Protestant church in central Amsterdam, Netherlands. It lies in the most western part of the Grachtengordel neighborhood (Centrum borough), next to the Jordaan, between the Prinsengracht and Keizersgracht.

  10. 10
    Statue of Anne Frank

Anne Frank is one of Amsterdam’s best-known historical figures. Anne and her family lived in hiding from the Nazis for more than two years in a house on the Prinsengracht. Anne was eventually deported to the Bergen-Belsen concentration camp in 1945, where she later died at the young age of 15. Today, Anne’s spirit lives on through her diary and the huge numbers of visitors who come to Amsterdam every year to learn more about her short life.

  11. 11
    Houseboat Museum

Our boats will cruise along with the houseboat museum at the Prinsengracht.

  12. 12
    Stop 12

This luxurious, modern hotel on the Prinsengracht is two kilometers from the Anne Frank House and the Van Gogh Museum. Dam Square is one kilometer away.

A pleasant way to get to learn about Amsterdam

A lovely tour with a very friendly crew. My mother struggled to hear all of the commentary, as the skipper sometimes spoke when he was facing forward. Maybe the micro gibe might have helped. Very generous with the drink and wine though
