  1. 1
    Anne Frank House

The Anne Frank House (Dutch: Anne Frank Huis) is a writer's house and biographical museum dedicated to Jewish wartime diarist Anne Frank. The building is located on a canal called the Prinsengracht, close to the Westerkerk, in central Amsterdam in the Netherlands. During World War II, Anne Frank hid from Nazi persecution with her family and four other people in hidden rooms at the rear of the 17th-century canal house, known as the Secret Annex (Dutch: Achterhuis). She did not survive the war but her wartime diary was published in 1947. Ten years later the Anne Frank Foundation was established to protect the property from developers who wanted to demolish the block.

  2. 2
    Westerkerk

The Westerkerk was built between 1620 and 1631 in Renaissance style according to designs by architect Hendrick de Keyser (1565-1621). He is buried in the church he designed earlier: the 'Zuiderkerk'. The building of the Westerkerk was finished and completed by his son Pieter de Keyser (1595-1676) and inaugurated on June 8, 1631. The church has a length of 58 meters and a width of 29 meters. The high nave is flanked by the two lower aisles. The three-aisled basilica has a rectangular plan with two transepts of equal dimensions. As a result, the plan for this church was given the form of two Greek crosses connected with each other.[2] (a patriarchal cross). Several older churches in Amsterdam, such as Oude Kerk and Nieuwe Kerk, were originally built before the Reformation and were converted to Protestantism during the Reformation in 1578. The Westerkerk was one of the first purposely built Protestant churches. The Noorderkerk and Zuiderkerk preceded the Westerkerk. Today the Westerkerk remains the largest church in the Netherlands that was built for Protestants, and is still in use by the PKN (Protestantse Kerk in Nederland)

    Canal Ring (Grachtengordel)

1 hr 15 min - The Grachtengordel (known in English as the Canal District) is a neighborhood in Amsterdam, Netherlands located in the Centrum district. The seventeenth-century canals of Amsterdam, located in the center of Amsterdam, were added to the UNESCO World Heritage List in August 2010.[1] The Amsterdam Canal District consists of the area around the city’s four main canals: the Singel, the Herengracht, the Keizersgracht, and the Prinsengracht. From the Brouwersgracht, the canals are generally parallel with one another, leading gradually southeast into the Amstel river. Many of the canal houses in the Amsterdam Canal District are from the Dutch Golden Age, 17th century. Many of these buildings, however, underwent restoration or reconstruction in various centuries, meaning that these building display many different architectural styles and facades

A Wonderful Experience

My wife and I spent 6 nights at Anantara Boput Resort on Koh Samui, Thailand in October 2022. The staff was outstanding, very helpful and professional. The resort is in the perfect location, on the beach looking over islands afar. The accommodations were extremely clean and the food marvelous. Sitting by the pool, reading and overlooking the beach and Gulf of Thailand was priceless. The added bonus is you are only 25 steps away from the promenade along Fisherman's Village. Loads of restaurants and shops. We traversed the island and believe Anantara Boput as the best resort and location you could experience in Koh Samui. Enjoy.

AMAZING

This was an amazin experience. We explored the city by foot, but this boat ride was a great extra. For only 15 euros we got 1,5 hours of guided tour around the canals. The audio guide was nice, and there were pauses also which gave space to chatting. The guide man, who also drove the boat, was AMAZING with his soothing voice and good stories. He was so polite and sweet. We also bought drinks from the ticket desk. Would recommend, it is worth it!!!
