About this activity

We cruise like a local: you enter as a guest and leave as a friend. Sit, enjoy, and relax! Where most boat companies like to stay on a fixed route and give a standard lecture, we like to be guided by the day and group. The captain is your host and guide in one and will make sure you have a fun time. After this boat trip you will understand the city even better. We sail in an incredible special boat (if I may put it that way); End of 2020, I had the opportunity to buy the former government boat from 1928, which was used by Presidents, Mayors, and our own Dutch royal family. The boat is fully electric has sliding windows, a sunroof, an open aft deck; toilet on board (a luxury!). It is perfectly equipped for the Dutch weather, which can be very changeable. In short: the best boat to discover the Amsterdam canals. Come and join us! Captain Dave Ps. Stop 1
We start on the boat the 'Jonckvrouw' (Royal Lady) at the Prinsengracht 579 from where we go to the Amstel River. We'll cruise through the different districts of the city, like the Jordaan. We go both on the famous Amsterdam canals and the small canals where the big tour boats can't enter. We'll make sure you see the best of what Amsterdam has to offer. The cruise ends at the same place.

Anne Frank House
Anne Frank House Amsterdam—the main house and the annex. On 6 July 1942, the Frank family went into hiding in the building at Prinsengracht 263.

ARTIS Amsterdam Royal Zoo
Artis Royal Zoo Amsterdam is a beautiful 19th-century zoo and the oldest zoo in the Netherlands with among others, chimpanzees, zebras and elephants, an aquarium, and a planetarium —when lucky, we spot elephants, zebras, or even giraffes.

The Amstel
The Amstel River —is the beautiful river where Amsterdam took his name from. The view from the Amstel is magical! The Amstel is a wide river that flows from Nieuwveen to Amsterdam, where it meets the IJ bay.

The Smallest House in Amsterdam
Europe's smallest house is 2.02 meters (6 feet 8 inches) wide and 5 meters (16 feet 5 inches) deep! —It represents a miniature version of a typical Amsterdam canal house. What makes it even more amazing, it accommodates a Tea Salon.

Red Light District (De Wallen)
The Amsterdam Red Light District —from brothels to sex shops to museums, the old part of Amsterdam, has it all. Don't be afraid to go; it has a very friendly atmosphere.

The Jordaan
The lively Jordan area —What do you think it is named after? The French word Jardin (English: garden) or Jordaan (the Dutch name for the river Jordan)?

Magere Brug
The famous Skinny Bridge —across the river Amstel and opposite of the Carré theatre is an Old Dutch design wooden double-swipe (balanced) bridge. The romantic story goes that the bridge got his name from the sisters Mager, who lived on opposite sides. They had the wooden bridge built to make it easier to visit each other... The more likely version is that the original bridge acquired the name from being so narrow (mager means skinny in Dutch) that it was hard for two pedestrians to pass one along with another.

De Poezenboot
The Catboat —a unique houseboat turned into an animal shelter. Cat-loving volunteers run it. I didn't expect seeing cats on the water, you?

Brilliant 1.5hr Trip

Fantastic afternoon touring canals of Amsterdam in a beautiful boat with great skipper. Very comfortable, clean and tidy boat, with delicious snacks picked up fresh during the tour. Captain Dave was very friendly, amusing and knowledgeable.

Book with Capt. Dave, you won't be sorry.

Capt. Dave was wonderful and provided a great Canal cruise for our group. We're 6 couples that had not met, but would be traveling on a river cruise together, this was a great way to meet up and socialize. Upon boarding, Capt. Dave gave us a brief history of his vessel and how he came to own it, so interesting. The boat has heat and a bathroom which was very nice. Everyone enjoyed beer, wine and fresh biten ballen while getting to know each and hear the history of the canals. Capt Dave provided a great narrative, local history and did not hesitate to answer questions.

Insider Cruising

It was nice that it was a smaller group (two couples, my daughter and myself) and it was perfect that it was at night. Amsterdam is all lit up:) Captain Dave should have a parrot - he was knowledgeable, entertaining, and ready to answer any and all questions about Amsterdam and its history. The boat is as lovely as advertised, the glassware is real, and we now know where his aunt lives in his family home. Could not have been more charming.

Fun and interesting boat trip

Friendly chap, lots of anecdotes. Luxurious boat with an interesting history to it. Refreshments are included in the price. We enjoyed the sugared bread and butter, chocolate and could have had a drink from an impressive selection. We liked feeding the swans at the start too. Photo opportunities were available. Afterwards his list of recommendations was fabulous. We discovered some gems we wouldn't have otherwise have been aware of. Highly recommend.
